The Cholmondeley Arms is a unique experience in many ways . The decor is charming and cosy. Attention to detail is noteworthy. It is a fine example of how an authentic pub should be. There is a very nice cottage right next door to the pub. Right next door is a lovely cottage with six characterful rooms in the so-called Headmaster’s House. The rooms are rustic and simple, yet they have the understated comfort of a country home.
The atmosphere strikes a pleasing balance between sophistication and ease. It blends a hint of medieval character with modern comfort and creates a strong sense of warmth throughout.
The food was also very good. The starters were especially impressive, while the main courses, though enjoyable, left a little room for refinement. The highlight, however, was the excellent gin selection. The idea of pairing each gin with its ideal tonic was new to me and added something memorable to the experience.
The crowd is mostly made up of stylish locals, which adds to the pub’s appeal. I was genuinely pleased we stayed here. It was a memorable experience, and I would gladly return.
