Overlooking the magnificent historic Istanbul peninsula, Istanbul Modern is a brilliant initiative. It is a museum of modern art which exhibits modern, contemporary pieces of art with impressive permanent exhibition and noteworthy temporary exhibitions. I think it is one of the must-see places to visit in Istanbul.
The location also makes it a wonderful place to pause and relax, especially if you visit the restaurant. Its clean, modern design pairs beautifully with the view. The food is good, but I would especially recommend the cocktails. The last time I visited, the Modern Cocktail stood out for the care taken in its preparation. For me, a cocktail is worth ordering only when it is made with attention, skill, and fresh ingredients—and that was exactly the case here.
In my view, the restaurant at Istanbul Modern is one of the best places in the city for a relaxed midday break with a superb view. Its chic, modern atmosphere only adds to the experience.
