Hotel Goldener Adler in Ischgl is a very charming hotel full of character. The utmost quality of the hotel is its unique rooms and cosy atmosphere where tradition meets with excellent Austrian hospitality. Rooms are decorated in such a way that they give you the warm feeling of your home. There are lots of small touches and tiny details that create this feeling. For instance, the towels: instead of standard white patterns, they have their unique colours for separate uses. The towels for use in the sauna are attached to a separate bag for your use. In every detail, you find something thoughtful. For instance, the menu has a very nice small clipper attached to it. The pillowcases have nice engravings of the hotel’s initials. The rooms are extremely clean, like the hotel itself. From the hygiene point of view, this place deserves extra points as well. It is clear that the Kurz family, who owns the hotel, gives importance to all these details that make you very comfortable during your stay.
The design of the hotel is both contemporary and still preserves the authenticity of Austrian architecture. I personally don’t prefer the extra modern perspective some new resorts offer; they lack character, if you ask me. The historic building this hotel is home to, on the other hand, has been decorated very tastefully. It has all the charm and character I have been looking for.
The food was another dimension I praise really highly. It was a series of gastronomic sessions throughout our stay. The only thing is we were lucky to ski all day, not to get some major weight gain after this delicious festive of Austrian cuisine night after night. The ladies who served us were so elegant. They were cheerful, polite, and extremely hardworking.
The Spa and Wellness area is also up to date and provides all amenities you look for after a long day of skiing.
The location of the hotel is also perfect. It lies in a very central location, only two minutes’ walking distance to the Filmbabahn tunnel that directly leads you through the base station of the cable car. If you choose to use the other major Gondola (cable car), Silvrettabahn, it is also a 4-5 minutes’ walking distance in the opposite direction. Both of those Gondolas carry you to the Idalp, which is the centre of the slopes (where the majority of the routes and slopes intersect).
In summary, Hotel Goldener Adler is a 35-room mid-sized hotel, with top-notch qualities like excellent cuisine, very comfortable rooms, home-like cosiness, an attention to detail hard to find nowadays. It might not suit pure entertainment-seeking loud crowds but is a perfect choice for families or couples looking for an elegant option.
