That said, the coastline is developing too quickly. New luxury hotels and residential projects are changing the character of the area, which worries both environmentalists and longtime Gundogan enthusiasts. On the western side, along the road towards Kizilburun, there is a small inlet that was once a very quiet beach. Its still water used to make it a perfect escape and an ideal place to stop by boat for a few peaceful hours. Today, residential sites, hotels, and beach clubs line the shore. It remains beautiful, but in a different way—and it is still quieter than Golturkbuku if that is what you are after.
The town centre is lively without feeling overwhelming. Small restaurants, motels, and apart hotels line the waterfront, and the local residents add to the area’s friendly character. Despite its growing popularity, Gundogan still feels manageable enough to retain much of its authenticity. If you are there on a Wednesday, the local pazar is well worth a visit.
