Why I Love Gin Tonic Gin tonic is without doubt one of my favourite cocktails. It may be simple to make, but getting it right is an art. Small additions such as lime, satsuma, or cucumber can completely change its character, and the final result depends greatly on the quality of the gin and the setting in which it is enjoyed. A Drink of Appreciation For me, gin tonic has a reflective quality. The perfect moment for one is just before sunset, especially in summer, when the evening begins to soften and the pace of the day slows down. The setting matters. This may no longer be a hidden gem, but my first visit to Vallon-Pont-d’Arc was still a memorable start to our Riviera journey. We visited in late July, so the area was busy with tourists. Even so, we found a tent pitch at Le Camp des Gorges, which turned out to be an excellent choice. It felt quieter and more private than the larger, more crowded campsites along the Ardèche River. Kayaking is the area’s signature activity, and rental options are available through many campsites and hotels. We booked through our campsite.
