Bencik, Hisaronu Bay

Bencik may not have the vivid, deep-blue water often found elsewhere in this region, but it remains one of my favourite spots in the Aegean. What makes it special is its beautiful mix of green and blue, along with the many small inlets available for mooring as you approach from Hisarönü.

I prefer not to go too far into the inlet, as the water becomes less clear and the shoreline turns more residential. Instead, I recommend anchoring near the small inlets on the left as you enter the bay, where the trees reach down to the water and provide welcome shade if you moor close to the shore.

One thing to watch out for is bees. Depending on the season, they can be numerous enough to become uncomfortable, although this is usually limited to the early morning and around sunset.
